May I ask for your [honest] opinion?

Wood desk & flowers

Alrighty. I recently just completed my one hundredth blog design order [insert celebratory balloons, glitter cannons, and thrown pies here]. ;} And I was talking to my mother about this in the car, to and from the store. Basically, what she said was; "You've been doing your designs for a long time, right? So why don't you start charging for your services?"

This got me thinking, and in my eyes, I feel as though charging for my designs would probably make me feel like I'm getting cocky, and too proud of my work, yah know? But I wanted to ask you guys, my honest readers; do YOU think my services are worth spending money on? Like seriously. If you wanted a new design would you choose me, even if it cost you ten dollars? I know most of it is just a matter of opinion. Every designer has their own way of doing things. Their own unique style. It all depends on what the "order-er" wants. I'd like to know if I have the capabilities of giving such things to my lovely customers.

I don't know. What do you guys think? :)

Thank you for reading. <3

  1. Well I think your designs are definitely "cost worthy" your amazingly talented and you could really make a business out of it...so I say you could totally do if but it might limit how many people you get that want to pay for a design. I know that some professional blogs pay good money for a good design but some smaller bloggers don't have money to pay for a design....so I don't know. Your totally talented enough! You just might not get as many orders.

  2. Your designs are defiantly worth it! :} And if I had the money I would! But I usually don't.. O.o
So you could charge for a design! You probably wouldn't get as many costumers, but you probably would still get a fair amount! :)

  3. I feel like those who don't have the money or a credit card won't be able to have one of your blog designs, even if they really like it. But your designs are really great though.

  4. I agree, I bet people would totally pay for you designs! It is nice that they are free, and I think more people would get designs for free, but still I think people would pay for them too. I personaly think that it is amazing that they are free, cause they are incredible!
So yeah, that's what I think...

    1. Well, now that I think about it more, I think it would be better if you had them for free, cause than you would get more orders, and be able to spend more time doing what you love. You designs are defiantly worth paying for but, if they're free, people with less money could order.

  5. Was I your 100th blog design? :D That's so cool!
And I have read all the previous comments and come to the conclusion that: Your design are worth paying for, but that's best part. Your talents are helping others since you are not charging. So I suppose you could charge, but for those who have been totally drowned in hopelessness for a blog design, your free designs are the life savers.

Here's an idea: Why don't you let super simple/premade templates be available for free? And let custom/detailed designs be charged a fee?

PS I love love love my template design! I removed you as an admin, assuming you were finished (I'm happy with it either way, I hope you don't mind.) And I followed you. I also added your blog button on the side, and a "right reserved" link with your name and link in it! So you get all the cred :)

  6. I think people would diffidently still buy your designs, but I know I wouldn't. It's not that I think you aren't amazing or I don't love my design--I do, both of them. It's just that I don't have money and when I do I spend it on books. ;) Now, if I was a ''big'' {400+ followers} blogger/blogging was REALLY important to me, I would. But I'm not there yet.
Anyway, I think what Sophie said was really cool, about the simple templates being free then a more detailed one costing moo-la. :)

You could do that but then your number of orders would go down and some new bloggers just want someone like you to design their blog. Your designs are cost worthy, but I say it's best if you don't put up a price.

  8. Here is the [honest] opinion of your Les: Perhaps you could charge a small fee for complete (re)designs, but still continue to keep it free of charge if a customer only wanted particular elements, such as a header or button. Your talent is very promising in this field of art, so whatever you do, just do your best. :)

With more bouquets of red roses because I love you,
    Les

  9. You're designs are definitely good enough to be payed for, but I'd be so sad if you started charging for your designs. I love being able to email you to ask for little things to be done and I love thinking that I could change my design at any time, I'd just have to fill out one of your forms and get a beautiful design for free. I also don't know how I would get the money to you if you started charging, since I live in the UK, I don't know how I would get dollars for you...
If I am completely honest with you, I don't think I would get a design from you if you started paying. It would be a lot of hassle getting the dollars and I'd rather not pay for a new design/little things that I'd like doing. I think I would leave it or do a less beautiful design myself. That's just my honest opinion

  10. I definitely think that your designs are worth paying for; however, I personally would not be able to keep getting designs from you. I just feel like my blog is really small right now, and I don't think that at this point I would want to pay to have it designed. I also don't have a credit card so I don't know how I would even be able to pay you. I definitely think that you wouldn't have as many orders in general if you started charging, but you would be getting paid for the orders you did receive, so that might be worth it. =)

  11. okay, i completely agree with Sophie. i love my design that you did for me and am already planning on using you again for future things, but for me, i probably wouldn't pay for it, mainly because my blog is just a hobby. you totally do amazing designs, definitely worth paying for, and as Sophie said, the cool part is that they are free. when i found your blog and then your design site i told my mom, "i can't believe this girl does designs for free! it's so hard to find someone who does great blog designs for free!" so for me, you doing blog designs for free is a big blessing! but i have had my own small-scale businesses before so i totally understand wanting to start doing what you enjoy for a fee! xoxojana

  12. You're good enough for sure! I am so glad I got in early though, you're designs are awesome, but I just don't have any money to pay with. It all goes to my music lessons.

  13. I love your designs! They are totally awesome, and definitely worth money. I notice, though, that a lot of the bloggers you make them for are younger, including me. And I personally would not be spending money on them, even though I love them. It's not YOUR designs, it just blog designs in general are not something I would really pay for. But I think you could charge for them and get a good outcome! The designs are great, I love them, I don't know how you do it! :) :) :)

  14. With all honesty, I *really* think your designs are totally worth paying for! Although, everyone does have a point... There is a possibility that you won't get as many customers. BUT, you could maybe charge customers if they order from you a second time? Yah know what I mean? I don't know. Hopefully I helped. :}

    I love you. <3

Room Tour 2019

I've always wanted to do one of these posts. If not for the enjoyment of others, for the enjoyment of my future self to look back on and realize how much my style and space have changed. My door. I think I'm sooo artsy for taping paint swatches to my door. And I actually love how it looks too. I was going for "Starry Night" with my own little twist -- and without the actual paint. ;) This is what my room looks like from the doorway. Can you guess what the theme is? It's funny -- a few weeks ago I was discussing with Kenzie how my room has this coral and aquamarine vibe to it, yet my Instagram theme is focused on yellows and blues, and my actual fashion style is very grungy/hispter/artsy. So it all comes full circle, I guess? Still, I love my room. It's my safe haven. Now come on in so I can give you the full tour... Right as you walk in, you will see my DIY jewelry hanging on the wall to your right. It's quite a balancing act when I
