My mother says that people serve as an example - of what to be and what not to be.
Before I begin I'd like to acknowledge the fact that yes, we're all human. Yes, everyone imperfect. Yes, everyone has rough days where they show parts of themselves that may not be entirely true. But I believe everything can be used as a lesson to help you and me become better at this crazy thing called Life. :)
I don't want to be...
- Passionate to the point where I don't bother to stop and listen to the people around me and what their perspectives are.
- Uncouth.
- Afraid to be silly.
- Afraid to laugh.
- Afraid to talk.
- So focused on myself that everything people say to me is taken personally.
- The one who has to make everything about themselves.
- Holding on to the past for so long that it's a literal weight I carry around with me and use as a crutch to dictate my life.
- Unbearable.
- Sharp and nasty when I feel sharp and nasty.
- So involved with my online life that it controls everything else.
- The one who looks up to find that world has moved on without her.
- Broken.
- Unbroken.
- Controlled by numbers.
- Bad at sharing.
- Scared of small talk.
- Anxious.
- Cocky.
- Forgettable.
- Controlled by aesthetics.
- The one who places herself in a cookie cutter mold.
- Focused on the future to the point where I forget the past.
- Normal.
- A pushover.
- Opinionated to the point where everything turns into an argument.
- Closed off.
- Alone.
I might just have to do a post like this. This was a really cool post and yes I do get it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post idea! We always spend time thinking about what we want to be, but it's definitely important to acknowledge things we should avoid.
ReplyDeleteControlled by aesthetics is something I don't want to be, either. It really frustrates me because people do it for the aesthetic, but in exchange for it they aren't always being authenticy, and the latter is more important than the former. Awesome post.

This is such a great post idea! I don't want to be any of these things either. I think the biggest thing right now that I don't want to be is too scared of what might happen to actually live my life. I don't want to shove myself in my little safety box, y'know?
ReplyDeleteVery relatable! My list would look pretty similar.
